Kewanee Girls Defeat Mendota on the Road

On Wednesday, January 12th the Kewanee Boiler Girls traveled to Mendota for a TRAC-East contest with the Lady Trojans. Kewanee used a 7-0 run to start the game and a 10-0 run to start the second period to build 33-11 halftime advantage. They increased the margin to 45-20 after 3 quarters and cruised to a 56-27 win.

The Boiler Girls were led by Emma Crofton and Marissa Stevens. The juniors both had outstanding stat lines for the game. Crofton totaled 16 points, 4 rebounds 3 assists and 4 steals for the game. Stevens contributed 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Senior Lainey Kelly added 10 points and 5 steals. Senior Emily Eggimann chipped in with 6 assists while senior Kiarra Rodgers had a team high 7 rebounds. Mendota was led by sophomore Renna Brant’s 16 points.

With the win Kewanee improves to 8-8 on the season and remains a perfect 6-0 in the conference. Led by Avery Yepsen’s 14 points the Kewanee’s sophomores defeated Mendota by the score of 34-17 in the preliminary. The sophomores now stand 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
