Valentine’s Day Is Sweet For PHS Boys Basketball Teams

The Princeton Tigers picked up a home win over the Bureau Valley Storm 74-62 on Friday night in boys varsity basketball action at Prouty Gymnasium.

 

The Tigers jumped out of the gate strong using a 10-0 run to take an 18-3 lead midway through the first quarter, which ended with Princeton up 22-8.

 

BV cut the Tigers' lead to six at 24-18 in the second quarter but PHS regained control and held a 44-27 halftime edge on a Jamie Reinhardt buzzer-beating three-point basket.

 

The third quarter belonged to the Storm, as BV outscored the Tigers 24-13 to cut the PHS lead to just six at 57-51 going into the fourth.

 

BV got to within five at 63-58 in the fourth quarter but the Tigers were able to get the lead back up to double digits and hold on for the win.

 

Jamie Reinhardt led PHS in scoring with 17, followed by Cole Adams with 13 and Liam Duffin with 11 including a slam dunk.  Dalton Dean topped BV with a game-high 22 points, Carter Salisbury contributed 13 and Adam Johnson had 12.

 

The Tigers went 16 of 23 from the free throw line while the Storm made 14 out of 27.  Each team made 8 treys.  Princeton also won the sophomore matchup 58-47.
