Tigers Lose Double Overtime Thriller To Rockridge At Prouty Gym

The Princeton Tigers rallied from a double-digit deficit and almost pulled off a huge upset over a powerful Rockridge Rockets team in boys varsity basketball Tuesday night before falling 67-66 in double overtime in the regular season finale at Princeton's Prouty Gymnasium.

The Rockets, entering the game with a 22-5 record, led 11-7 after the first quarter and jumped out to a 12 point lead in the second before settling for a 25-17 halfltime advantage.

The Tigers rallied to within 3 in the third quarter at 29-26 and trailed 37-30 going into the fourth.

A 10-2 run to start the fourth gave the Tigers their first lead of the game at 40-39 and it was back-and-forth the rest of the quarter and the teams headed into the first overtime tied at 48.

Each team scored 7 points in the first overtime and a bucket by Wyatt Davis with 6.9 seconds left forced a second overtime.

In the second overtime it looked like the Tigers were going to get the win when Braden DeBates buried a three-pointer to give PHS a 66-65 lead with 2 seconds left.

With just .1 seconds remaining, Rockridge's Nate Henry hit a pair of free throws to lift the Rockets to the narrow win.

Henry scored a game-high 29 points for the Rockets and Jenson Whiteman added 10.  The Tigers were topped by Wyatt Davis' 17 and DeBates' 13.
