The Illinois High School Association is making a couple of changes to its return to play guidelines. The announcement was made Monday following its monthly board meeting.
The two-game per week restriction is being removed, meaning winter, spring and summer sports will again have normal regular-season game limits.
Also, the IHSA’s summer season will begin two weeks earlier than initially announced. With the modification, summer sports (baseball, softball, track & field, girls soccer, lacrosse, boys tennis) can now begin practices on April 19 and games on May 3.
In a news release, IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson said “We have preached that this school year will be fluid, and the changes made by the board today are a good example of that”.
