The Bureau Valley Storm won the Wally Keller Classic on Saturday with a win over Putnam County 49 to 41. Carter Salisbury was named Classic MVP as he led the Storm to victory with a game high 22 points in the victory. Putnam County finished second in the tournament. That placement became official when the Stark County Rebels toppled Elmwood in game 2 on Saturday 57 to 52. Elmwood would have to settle for a third place showing at the Classic. In the final official game of the tourney, Wethersfield bested Annawan in a battle of teams seeking their first wins of the season. Wethersfield battled Annawan into overtime before coming away with a dramatic 54 to 53 victory.
In the showcase game on Saturday, Wally Keller got to watch as his Charlottle Florida team, led by Coach Tom Massolio defeated visiting United Township 49 to 40. It was a terrific close to the visit by the legendary former Wethersfield Coach and tournament namesake Wally Keller who now makes his home in Charlotte where he often provides assistance to the Charlotte Torpons and their boosters.
