Illinois State Police Report

On Thursday, May 27th, approximately 1:31 p.m., an Illinois State Police Trooper stopped a vehicle on 4th Street westbound, east of 15th Avenue in Sterling, Illinois for the driver Operating a Motor Vehicle While Using An Electronic Communication Device. During the traffic stop investigation, the driver, Amy L. Goodell, 45-year-old female of Rock Falls, Illinois was charged with Driving While License Suspended and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Using An Electronic Communication Device. Goodell was released on a recognizance bond with a future court date.   

On Saturday, May 29th, at approximately 1:50 p.m., an Illinois State Police Trooper stopped a vehicle on Interstate 39 southbound at milepost 85 for a Motor Carrier Safety Inspection. During the traffic stop investigation, the driver Ilia Denisov, 39-year-old male from Hollywood, Florida was charged with No Valid CDL When Required, Operating an Out of Service Vehicle and Overweight on Registration. Denison was also issued several other warnings for equipment violations. Denison was released on a recognizance bond with future court date.

Also on Saturday, May 29th, at approximately 1:50 a.m., an Illinois State Police Trooper stopped a vehicle on Avenue G and Miller Street in Sterling, Illinois for Improper Lane Usage. During the traffic stop investigation, the driver, Joseph W. Leif, 35-year-old male from Sterling, Illinois was charged with Driving Under The Influence of Alcohol and Improper Lane Usage. Leif was released on a recognizance bond with future court date.

On Monday, May 31st,  at approximately 11:26 p.m., an Illinois State Police Trooper stopped a vehicle on 1st Street and 10th Avenue in Sterling, Illinois for improper display of license plate. During the traffic stop investigation, the driver, Kylie A. Weerts, 23-year-old female of Sterling, Illinois was charged with No Front License Plate and an active Lee County Warrant for Failure to Appear. Weerts posted bond and was released with a future court date.   

On Tuesday, June 1st, at approximately 11:50 p.m., an Illinois State Police Trooper stopped a vehicle on US Route 30 and Illinois State Route 40 in Rock Falls, Illinois for Defective Headlights. During the traffic stop investigation, the driver, Joseph S. Gipson, 48-year-old male from Rock Falls, Illinois was charged with Driving Under The Influence of Alcohol, Driving Under the Influence Of Alcohol with BAC of .08 or more, and Driving Uninsured Motor Vehicle. Gipson was also issued a Written Warning for Defective Headlights. Gipson was released on a recognizance bond with future court date.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
