No The CDC Is Not Recommending That Men Shave Their Beards Over COVID-19 Concerns

A false story spreading on social media currently, and debunked here by Politifact, is not recommending that men shave their beard because of concerns over COVID-19 transmission. According to the story, a Centers for Disease Control graphic shows men with various lengths of facial hair and the difficulty each beard type had while wearing a respirator mask. These types of mask are not recommended to be warn outside of work. The actual info-graphic was part of the No Shave-November meme in 2018. The graphic was picked up incorrectly by several news outlets and reported as the CDC recommending that men shave their beards to avoid COVID-19 but no such risks related to having a beard exists.
