Suspect Arrested in Sunday Rock Falls Shooting

On Sunday, March 21st, at approx. 7:36 am Rock Falls Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of 6th Avenue. Upon arrival officers located evidence of a shooting in the alley between 6th and 7th Avenue and an occupied residence in the area that was struck by at least one projectile. While officers were on the scene, an individual walked in to the Rock Falls Police Department to report they had been shot. An ambulance was dispatched and the individual was transported to the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

The victim is a 21-year-old male. Rock Falls Police obtained an arrest warrant for Alex Vinson-Ishmon, age 20, for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, a Class 1 Felony. On the afternoon of Wednesday, March 24th, Dixon Police stopped a vehicle driven by Vinson-Ishmon where he was taken into custody. A handgun was recovered during the traffic stop. Vinson-Ishmon was taken to the Lee County Jail where he is being held on the Whiteside County warrant and additional charges related to the traffic stop by Dixon Police.
