Illinois State Police from District 1 are assisting the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board with a small plane crash, that occurred early Saturday evening.
Troopers observed a low flying plane, while monitoring traffic on interstate 88, at around 5:40pm. The plane, a Cessna 150, continued to lose altitude, and eventually went down in a corn field, near East Thome Road and Calhoun Drive south of Rock Falls.
60 year old Daniel Gryder of Hampton, Georgia, was identified as the pilot, and a passenger, Matthew Mansell, 42 of of Napoleon, Missouri. Both refused medical attention were uninjured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, and no further details are available at this time.
