Sunday afternoon the Rock River Development Authority also known as the R.R.D.A. hosted a controlled “prairie burn” where the upper dam at the mouth of the Hennepin Feeder Canal in Rock Falls, this area is also known as the point. Also, during a “prairie burn” the no-native plants are burned away and this allows the prairie plants more space and nutrients. Typically, native prairie plants have deep roots which allows them to survive a prairie burn
