Tri-Counties News Brief: Governor Pritzker Pushing to Get More People Vaccinated in Illinois

Volunteer opportunities are now open at OSF Saint Luke facilities in Kewanee and Monmouth. Manager for Senior and Volunteer Services for OSF Wendy Allaman says positions including greeters, gift shop workers and in the transportation services department are available on a volunteer basis. IDOT has started repairing the bridge carrying Illinois 82 traffic over the Edwards River just south of Cambridge. The work includes expanding joint replacement and a concrete deck overlay. Drivers in the area should be ready to stop as traffic is down to one lane. Work should be completed by mid-August.

Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker is urging residents to get the vaccine amid a scare from the Delta variant of COVID-19. During an appearance in Lawndale Monday, he said the Delta variant will be the dominant strain in Illinois by this fall, reminding Illinoisans that the pandemic is not over.
