Republican Lawmakers Pushing for Property Tax Reform Bills Stuck in Committee

While Governor J.B Pritzker's bipartisan Property Tax Relief Task Force has struggled to put forward legislation aimed at relieving the property tax burden in the state of Illinois, a group of Illinois Republicans on Tuesday, came forward with several ideas regarding what to do about property taxes. State Representative Dan Brady, State Representative Deanne Mazzochi, State Representative Joe Sosnowski and State Representative Dan Ugaste, held a press conference on Tuesday to unveil the legislation they hope will amount to meaningful property tax relief. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Mazzochi said that they could no longer sit back and wait…

Mazzochi continued referring to property taxes as crippling homeowners and business owners for years…

State Representative Dan Ugaste told reporters that his constituents can no longer wait for politicians to do something about property taxes and that action needed to be taken now…

State Representative Dan Brady stated that partisanship should not matter in the case of property taxes because the burden is so high, action needed to take place now…

State Representative Joe Sosnowski closed the press conference by blasting Governor J.B Pritzker's Property Tax Task Force and calling for these new bills to be brought forward from the Property Tax committee in the House…

House Republicans have filed more than twenty pieces of legislation addressing property tax relief that ranges from local pension reform, mandate relief, and increased transparency to consolidation and resource sharing among local governments to drive down costs.
