Partial Ban of Red Light Cameras Passes the Illinois House

A partial ban of red light cameras has been passed by the Illinois House of Representative. A bill written by State Representative David McSweeney which would ban the use of red light cameras in non-home rule counties passed the House on Wednesday and will go to the Senate for consideration. Famously, former State Senator Martin Sandoval was accused of accepting money from lobbyists for the Red Light Camera industry. Sandoval made a practice of sending Red Light Camera legislation like this to a sub-committee with no members, killing the bill before it could be voted on. Reporter Greg Bishop has more…
