Lawsuit Aims to Force State to Fully Implement Automatic Voter Registration

A lawsuit in federal court aims to force the state of Illinois to fully implement the Automatic Voter Registration system that has recently been the subject of controversy. Earlier this year, under the leadership of Secretary of State Jesse White, the Automatic Voter Registration System managed to sign up non-citizen voters to vote in Illinois elections. The lawsuit aims to recoup damages related to the promise the state made to have the system operational in 2018 and force the state to institute the technology in time for the November election under court supervision.
