Kewanee Schools Considering Waiver for Certain State and National Holidays

The Kewanee School District has given notice to the public that there will be a school board meeting on March 16th of 2020. At this meeting, the Kewanee School Board will debate whether or not to institute a waiver that will allow the district to forego honoring several state and federal holidays. According to the release from the Kewanee School Board, the meeting concerns creating a lifetime waiver for Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Abraham Lincoln's Birthday, and Casimir Pulaski's Birthday as legal school holidays. The move would allow the school board to waive these holidays as needed in a given school year. The hearing on this holiday waiver will begin at 7:30 Pm at the Kewanee School Board Unit Office on Main Street in Kewanee on Monday, March 16th.
