Kewanee Police Chief Claims Video of 2019 Arrest of Mendota Man Edited Before Posted to YouTube

20 year old Christopher Biederstedt was arrested in August of 2019 after Police were called to the area around People's National Bank where Biederstedt was walking around recording video on his phone. In the video of Biederstedt's arrest, posted to his personal YouTube channel, IDC Chris, Kewanee Police Officer John Gearhart informs Biederstedt that a call was placed to Kewanee Police regarding man recording video outside the bank….

Biederstedt is shown being arrested after refusing to comply with the Police investigation. Now, Biederstedt has posted the video of his arrest to YouTube and Kewanee Police Chief Troy Ainley tells WKEI that Biederstedt's recorded version events is not all that it seems. In a statement to WKEI, Chief Ainley stated: "I can tell you that the online video is an edited and partial story of the events, and the whole story of events of the call will be made public during the course of the county’s case and that our officer handled himself professionally and within the bounds of the law."

Biederstedt meanwhile, posted another video to his page where he repeatedly states that shooting video on the sidewalk was not illegal and claiming that his rights were violated. Also in the follow up video, Biederstedt claimed that he'd been requested to come to Kewanee to perform what he calls an 'audit of the town,'  and that he expected Kewanee Police to come once he started recording the video. Biederstedt's YouTube channel contains several similar videos of encounters with Police in Mendota and Peru, Illinois where Biederstedt was arrested in December following a shooting that had occurred. In that case, Biederstedt and another man were accused of lying to Police and arrested for Obstruction of Justice after a woman had been shot at a Hotel in Peru. A pre-trial hearing for Biederstedt in Henry County on the charges of Filing a False Report, Resisting a Peace Officer, and another charged related to Filing a False Report is set for March 11th at the Henry County Courthouse.
