Kewanee Police Announce Methamphetamine Arrests

The Kewanee Police Department announced the arrest of two people following following an investigation that began on July 20th and ended on July 21st. The investigation by the Kewanee Police Department and the Black Hawk Area Task Force led to the arrest of 30 year old April R Ptashnik of Kewanee and 30 year old Lavell Coleman of Peoria.Ptashnik was charged with the preliminary offenses of delivery of methamphetamine 5-15 grams (Class 1 Felony) and possession of methamphetamine 5-15 grams (Class 2 Felony). The Class 1 Felony carries a potential sentence of 4-15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Ptashnik was released and issued a notice to appear on August 23rd, 2021 at the Henry County Courthouse for her charges.

Coleman was charged with the preliminary offenses of delivery of methamphetamine 15-100 grams (Class X Felony) and possession of methamphetamine 15-100 grams (Class 1 Felony). The Class X Felony carries a potential sentence of 6-30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Coleman was transported to the Henry County Jail and is being held on $150,000 bond. The Illinois Department of Corrections also issued a no-bond parole violation warrant for Coleman after his arrest. He had a preliminary hearing on July 26th, 2021 at the Henry County Courthouse. Probable cause was found and the case was set for a pre-trial conference on August 12th, 2021.
