IDOT to Hold Virtual Meeting on Reconstruction of Illinois 84 in Colona

The Illinois Department of Transportation will hold a virtual public meeting on Thursday, August 27th from 2 Pm to 3 Pm. The goal of the meeting is to go over plans for the reconstruction of Illinois 84 from the Rock River to just north of US 6. Illinois 84 is nearly past its service life and will require an almost complete reconstruction that will require roadwork through the City of Colona and include adding a bidirectional left-turn lane from 5th Avenue to 7th Street and constructing a sidewalk and multi-use path for bicyclists and pedestrians, as well as improving drainage with a new storm sewer system. A traffic signal will be added at Cleveland Road, with the left-turn lane lengthened. To watch and participate in this online meeting with the Illinois Department of Transportation, you must register by going to the IDOT website, linked here. In addition to a presentation introducing the study, the meeting will include exhibits for review and a survey. Personnel from IDOT will be available for a question-and-answer session after the presentation.
