There were 11 more cases of COVID-19 added to the list of individual cases on Friday. That brings the total since the start of the pandemic to 348 since Mid-March. For the month of August, there have been 155 individual cases of COVID-19. That number includes at least two children from Geneseo which led to the Geneseo School District to shift to an E-Learning model as of this Friday. Stark County remains at 9 cases with added to the individual cases last week, the first since the last week of July.
As for the latest statewide numbers, on Friday, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced 2,208 new individual cases of COVID-19 and an additional 24 deaths. That brings the statewide totals since the start of the pandemic to 215,929 individual cases of COVID-19 statewide. 7,857 people have died from COVID-19 in Illinois. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from August 14 – August 20 is 4.3%. As of Friday night, 1,526 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 351 patients were in the ICU and 121 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
