Hampton Police Chief Dies Responding to a Call

The Illinois State Police are investigating the cause of an accident that took the life of the Hampton, Illinois Chief of Police. 57 year old Terrence A Engel of Hampton was responding to a 911 call when the accident occurred. For reasons yet to be determined, the Police Chief’s vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree. The accident occurred in the area of Illinois Route 84 northbound near 180th Street North. No other information regarding the crash is being released at this time.

Chief Engle was the Chief of Police in Hampton since 2014. Prior to that, he’d spent two decades working for Black Hawk College as the Lieutenant in charge of Officers on both the Quad Cities and Galva Campus.
