City of Kewanee Replacing Fire Hydrants and Announces Boil Orders

The City of Kewanee is performing fire hydrant replacements on Wednesday, December 1st. This will result in boil orders being issued.

The City of Kewanee Water Department has a fire hydrant replacement scheduled for 12/1/21. It will be on West Fourth Street between the 500 & 600 blocks. This project was rescheduled from 11/29/21 due to a water main break that day. The following residents will be under a boil order after the work has been completed:

500 Block of West Fourth Street

600 Block of West Fourth Street

401 N Park Street

Residents are asked to take precautions when using water until the water runs clean. Only flush the system by running cold water, running hot water may draw rust into the water heater. Water being consumed for drinking or eating is all that is under the order. Using water for cleaning, laundry, showers, etc. does not need to be boiled.

As soon as the boil order is lifted, the City will issue a press release to let residents know. If you have any questions, please contact City Hall at 852-2611.
