It’s been five days since a fatal shooting in Princeton, Illinois, left one teenager dead and and his mother with non-life threatening injuries, but authorities have still had no luck in tracking down 18 year old Davijon Robinson and a male juvenile said to be driving the vehicle Robinson was in when leaving Princeton after the shooting. On Saturday, Princeton Police broke their silence and spoke to the members of the media. The Police announced the identity of the young man killed in the shooting as Caleb Conrath of Princeton. Princeton Police also issued a clarification on the search for Robinson and the juvenile male also sought in connection with the shooting.
According to Princeton Police, at approximately 4:14 Pm on July 1st, officers were dispatched to Hillview Trailer Park on a report that two persons had been shot. At the scene, Princeton Police and Fire found Caleb Conrath with apparent gunshot wounds. Medical help was administered and he was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. A second unnamed person was found in the home with a non-life threatening gunshot injury and was also taken to the hospital. Interviews with neighbors led Police to a description of a vehicle seen leaving the area after the shooting and two subjects, a driver and a passenger, leaving the area and heading West.
Further interviews with witnesses revealed that the passenger in the vehicle may be from Kewanee and Kewanee Police were immediately notified to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle. Not long after, Kewanee Police did identify a vehicle matching the description of the subject vehicle. Upon seeing the Kewanee Police the driver turned the vehicle toward a wooded area where the the two subjects exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The search for the two subjects in the woods turned up nothing. Not long after however, investigators were able to identify 18 year old Davijon Robinson as a person of interest in the case. The driver of the vehicle was also identified by Police as a male minor.
On Friday, an arrest warrant was issued for Davijon Robinson of Kewanee though the charges against Robinson were not announced. Anyone who may know the whereabouts of Davijon Robinson, referred to by friends as ‘Davo,’ is asked to call the Princeton Police Department at 815-872-2351 or Bureau County Crime Stoppers at 800-939-6929. Meanwhile, friends of the family of Caleb Conrath have started a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for memorial expenses for Caleb and medical care for Caleb’s mother, whom the campaign identifies only as Tasha.
