It’s official, The Marine Corp Band is coming to Kewanee Hog Days. According to information from Mark Mikenas with the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce, The Marine Corp Band will join the Budweiser Clydesdales as a special attraction for this year’s Kewanee Hog Days Parade, September 4th, 2021. Now, donations are needed to help defray the cost of bringing the Marine Corp Band to Kewanee Hog Days where the Ceremonial Band will march in the parade and where the Rock Band and Brass Band of the Marine Corps Band will perform a full concert on the Main Stage of Kewanee Hog Days. If you’d like to help make sure the Marine Corp Band has the necessities they need such as hotel accommodations, contact Mark Mikenas at the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce at 309-852-2175 or stop by the Chamber office during regular business hours.
“This is great news as we kick the covid virus to the curb” said Mark Mikenas Executive Director of the sponsoring Kewanee Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber’s Ambassador Club has taken on the duties of putting on the parade for the Hog Festival committee for decades and always tries to bring some of the best parade entries to the end of the Summer celebration.
“With the recent announcement of the Renowned Budweiser Clydesdale Hitch and Wagon participating in the parade the Marine Band is another reason that Kewanee is the place to be over Labor Day” stated Mikenas.
“We are putting a plea out for donations to help defray the cost of the bands appearance which is quite sizeable, as they will be here multiple days. If any business or individual would like to help please direct any donations to the Chamber office at 113 E. 2nd St.”
