19 Cases of COVID-19 Confirmed First Cases Outside of Chicago

The state of Illinois is reporting 19 cases of coronavirus and the first cases outside of Cook County. There is now a sick woman in Kane County and teenager in McHenry County. The cases are presumed to be from community spread because neither of the two people had traveled recently or been in contact with a known person who was sick. IDPH Director and Dr. Ngozi Ezike says as new cases are reported it’s important to keep in mind that these are people who are battling an illness and could be scared and worried.

The state is updating possible COVID-19 cases on the IDPH website, and those figures are updated Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
