Repair Work To Begin On Bridge Over Interstate 80

The Illinois Department of Transportation says repair work to the impacted steel beam on the bridge carrying Bureau County Highway 27 (2400 East Street) over Interstate 80 begins on Monday, April 13.

IDOT says daytime single-lane closure of I-80 westbound will be in place and the bridge carrying County Highway 27 will remain closed until repairs are completed.

Interstate 80 westbound between milepost 62 to milepost 60 will be fully closed for one night, Tuesday, April 21, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. The posted detour route for Interstate 80 westbound traffic starting at milepost 62 will proceed as follows: I-80 westbound traffic will proceed to I-180 southbound, then Route 6 westbound to Route 26 and northbound back to I-80.

Those taking the detour are urged to use caution and expect possible delays.
