Man Arrested for Allegedly Firing Shots at Peru Residence

One man has been arrested and another is recovering from his injuries after a shooting late Monday night at a Peru residence.  The Peru Police Department reports multiple shots were fired at a home on Market Street that contained children.  The injured man was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Illinois Valley Community Hospital.  Chief Doug Bernabei says the injured man, who was treated and released, was injured after falling down a ravine while fleeing from the shots.  Bernabei says the victim’s name is not being released.  Semaj Jones, 34, of Spring Valley, was arrested on complaints of reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated assault.  He was taken to the La Salle County Jail.
