Illinois Valley Community College’s Continuing Education office offers “SAT Test Prep” on its main campus and Ottawa Center in February.
The main campus option is 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 15 and 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22. Ottawa Center is 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 22 and 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 29.
Instructors Tricia Haynes and Bernie Moore will teach students test-taking skills, strategies for answering each type of question, time restraints and the SAT scoring system. Practice questions for the English, reading and math portions of the exam will also be reviewed.
“This class is designed to coach you to do your best on the SAT and demystify college admission testing,” Haynes said. “Preparing for the SAT will not produce perfect scores, but it will improve your performance by reducing test anxiety that can hinder performance.”
Cost is $99 and the textbook “Accelprep for the SAT Test” is included. Students should bring a pen or pencil and notepaper to class. Seating is limited. Call (815) 224-0447 to register.
