Food Bags for IVCC Students in Need

A total of 16 Illinois Valley Community College students in-need will receive food bags March 9 and 10 thanks to a drive initiated by staff members Carey Burns and Kim Herout.  Bags contain dried pasta, sauces, soups, chili, rice, noodle dishes, peanut butter, jelly, bread, quick oats, fruit cups, cookies, crackers, fresh fruit, cheese and pantry staples such as cooking oil and ketchup.  Proceeds from the Support Staff Service Project Craft Fair raised over $1,500 that was split between the food bags and another project.  Burns says a “large clothing and accessory donation” will also be made to Lily Pads Resale Boutique in Peru.  Other IVCC staff assisting were Janice Corrigan, Donna Swiskoski, Gracelyn Quesse, Aseret Loveland, Sandy Beard and Susan Monroe.  Participating departments included Project Success, Student Services, the bookstore, Hall High School’s Food Pantry and BEST.
