Bureau County Gets First Confirmed Case Of COVID-19 – La Salle County Man With Coronavirus Dies

Bureau County has its first confirmed case of COVID-19.

According to information released by the Bureau, Putnam and Marshall County Health Department, that person is a 47-year old man with no history of travel or contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19.  So this case is considered to be acquired by community transmission.  The man is recovering at home in isolation.

Princeton Mayor Joel Quiram says “Nothing brings home the realization of a situation such as this than when it strikes home. Home is Bureau County. We must remain vigilant and attentive and we need to focus on the end game. The only way we get from here to there is to follow the guidelines set forth by national, state and local authorities. The more we ignore them, the longer we face the unknown, but if we all work to abide by them, the sooner we put this crisis behind us.”

Meanwhile, an elderly La Salle County man who had the coronavirus has died.  The La Salle County Health Department confirmed the death over the weekend.  The man, in his 80s, was La Salle County’s fourth confirmed case and first person to be hospitalized in isolation.
