Coronavirus Pandemic Draining Coffers of Illinois’ Behavioral Health Facilities

A survey of  147 community-based organizations in Illinois found that their estimated Medicaid billing to the state had plummeted by $6.3 million dollars by the end of March.  Marvin Lindsey, CEO of the Community Behavioral Healthcare Association, fears some facilities will be forced to close.  He says he worries the coronavirus pandemic is going to lead to an increase in patients seeking help.  Lindsey says without an immediate financial lifeline from the state, as many as 175,000 patients will be left in the lurch.
