It tells the story of middle-age writer Don, who returns home and decides to finally take his father’s ashes to his childhood home, as requested.
Unfortunately Don discovers that grandma’s house is now a grocery store so he starts traveling across Iowa in search of a proper resting place. Throughout the drive, the story shifts between the present and past as Don remembers the “annual, tortuous vacations of his youth. In the end, Don’s journey leads him to reconcile his past and present at an unpredictable and perfect final destination.
