Bureau County Jail Closed To Visitors Until Further Notice

Bureau County Sheriff Jim Reed says, in an effort to protect correctional staff, inmates and the public, the Bureau County Jail is now closed to all visitors, with the exception of those requiring emergency services.  Visitation for detainees is restricted to attorneys.  Public fingerprinting services are also suspended.  These restrictions will remain in place temporarily until it is determined to be prudent to remove or modify them.
To combat the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office will be limiting face-to-face interactions with the public and implementing new temporary procedures for reporting non-emergency incidents.
Sheriff Reed reminds residents that the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office will continue to patrol 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will continue to answer service calls and enforce all laws and ordinances.
