The Bureau County Food Pantry is making changes due to the COVID-19 threat. Vanessa Hoffeditz, Food Pantry Manager, says out of concern for their clients, volunteers, staff and the community at large, the pantry is implementing changes to support social distancing, effective until further notice.
Distribution will be done through “curbside service”. Clients will need to pull their vehicles into the alley off Main and Elm behind the food pantry. The pantry has a ramp off the back. Cars will need to pull up to the doorway of the food pantry. Clients should remain in their car and volunteers will bring pre-bagged food items and place them on the trunk. Clients will then need to load their own bags into their car and pull forward for the next vehicle.
If you’re picking up for someone else, you’ll need to provide the completed proxy. Those who don’t have a vehicle should call the food pantry at 815-875-6064 to make arrangements.
Distribution hours will remain the same, from 9 to 11:30 am Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
If you’d like to make any food donations, due to social distancing, you should call the pantry at 815-875-6064.
For those who wish to make financial donations, checks may be mailed to:
