The Northwest Illinois Film Office (NIFO) today announced the First Annual Northwest Illinois Film Festival to be held on August 26, 2020, at the Midway Drive-In Theatre in Sterling. The festival is billed as a “Shorts-A-Palooza”, in celebration of Illinois Indie Filmmakers featuring several short films from some of Illinois most creative independent filmmakers, with several NW Illinois
filmmakers highlighted. A total of 11 films will be shown, highlighting the best of the independent filmmakers from the State of Illinois.
The first Shorts-A-Palooza is being supported by the historic Mideway Drive-In in Sterling. “We revamped the program from a two-day event to a single night, and went from features, shorts and
documentaries to just short films, offering guests sampling of what Illinois Indie filmmakers have to offer,” said Midway Drive-in Theater owner, Mike Kerz. “We are proud of the diverse program we’ve put together, with some strong representation from Northwest Illinois filmmakers, and filmmakers who have come to work in the Northwest Illinois region.”
