United Way to Host 11th Annual Power of the Purse in Macomb

The McDonough County United Way is finishing final preparations for their 11th annual Power of the Purse.  The event could not be held last fall but organizers say safety precautions have been put in place and the show will go on later this month.

The annual event sees hundreds of guests bidding on purses and bags in both silent and live auctions.  Proceeds benefit local non-profit agencies in McDonough County.

Power of the Purse will be divided into a two-day event at the Spoon River College Outreach Center at 2500 E. Jackson in Macomb.

The event will kick off with a Silent Auction Open House on Friday, March 26 from noon to 7 p.m.  It’s a casual, come-as-you-are event and masks will be required throughout.  Pre-registration is not required and admission is $10 at the door.

Saturday, March 27 features the VIP Live Auction and Online Event from 7 to 9pm.  Seating at the black tie optional/cocktail dress event is limited to four person tables and must be purchased in advance.  Guests will walk the red carpet, enjoy complimentary adult drinks at their table, bid on live auction packages in person, take home a goodie bag, and more.  Masks must be worn except while seated at your table and eating or drinking.  Guests at the VIP Live Auction will also have their admission to the Silent Auction Open House included with their ticket.
