The Schuyler County Health Department and the Hancock County Health Department have each reported their first case of COVID-19. The positive test results were confirmed Wednesday afternoon (April 8) by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Public health officials in both counties are working to identify and actively monitor individuals who were in contact with the patients in an effort to reduce the risk of additional transmission. The Hancock County individual is in their 20’s to 30’ and is home recovering. The age of the Schuyler County individual was not revealed, but that patient was also said to be recovering at home.
As of Wednesday evening, there are still no cases of confirmed COVID-19 reported in McDonough County. According to the McDonough County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency’s Facebook page, there have been 51 COVID-19 tests administered in McDonough County with 44 showing negative results and 7 tests pending.
