Beginning May 11, Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Ill., will resume performing elective surgeries. The hospital was required, along with all other hospitals in the state, to defer non-emergency surgical procedures on April 3 to save on the use of personal protective equipment and to preserve hospital bed availability in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Illinois Department of Public Health has lifted those restrictions.
“We encourage anyone who has deferred an elective surgical procedure due to COVID-19 to reach out to their provider and get scheduled,” said Dina Schaller, Director of Surgery at Memorial Hospital.
