Memorial Hospital in Carthage has three new board members this week. According to the announcement from Memorial Hospital the three new board members added this week are people with strong ties in the community and a background of being involved in strong causes. Joe Zumwalt, Katie Pearson and Robert Barlow were selected by the Memorial Hospital Board to become the Board’s newest members this week. Below are introductions for each of the new board members…
Joe Zumwalt is a lifelong Hancock County farmer. Joe has always made community service a priority. He has served on Keokuk Area Community Foundation Board, Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, and has been an active member of Hancock County Farm Bureau for over 25 years. Joe is also an active parishioner in his church, Trinity United Methodist Church. He has served on the church board and continues to volunteer his time to church projects.
Regarding being a member of Memorial Hospital’s Board of Directors, Joe Zumwalt states, “I’ve always believed playing an active role in the community is vital to our community’s success. I chose to serve on Memorial Hospital’s Board of Directors because I feel there is nothing more important than maintaining quality healthcare in our local hospital and Senior Services program. I am proud to be able to contribute.”
Katie Pearson, Chief Strategy Officer at UnityPoint Health – Trinity, brings more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience to Memorial Hospital’s Board of Directors. Katie spent 10 years in the managed care industry for John Deere Healthcare, Inc. In 2006, Katie began her career at UnityPoint Health – Trinity and has provided leadership for a variety of areas, including Strategic Planning, Business Development, Project Management, Marketing, and more, as well as providing interim leadership for UPH system-level Strategic Planning and Growth.
Katie’s current community projects include serving the Quad Cities community as a Board Member for Family Resources and serving on numerous health care related boards. Katie resides in Davenport, IA with her husband, Tod and their two children.
Katie Pearson is excited to share her experience and expertise with Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. She states, “I feel a strong tie to the Hancock County region and I look forward to giving back to the community through service on this board.”
Robert Barlow, also new to Memorial Hospital’s Board of Directors, works in Real Estate Development in Nauvoo, IL. Robert currently serves in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Lay Ministry as the Bishop of Nauvoo’s congregation. Robert, his wife, Shonnie, and their three children moved to Nauvoo in 2005.
Robert has always been devoted to serving the community in any way possible. He has previously served as a school board member for the Nauvoo Colusa School District and has previously served as a District Chairman in Boy Scouts of America. Robert is excited to be a member of Memorial Hospital’s Board of Directors. He states, “It is always easier to sit back and let someone else volunteer to serve our community, but I believe we should all be actively engaged in doing good things and serving others. I believe serving on Memorial Hospital’s Board of Directors is an opportunity to do this.”
