McDonough County Health Department Announces One New Case of COVID-19

The McDonough County Health Department has announced one new positive test for COVID-19 in the county. According to the release from the McDonough County Health Department, a male in his 20’s has become the 102nd person to test positive for COVID-19 in the County. No other information about the patient is being released. Statewide, the totals from the Illinois Department of Public Health confirmed 828 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 as well as an additional 30 people who had died from COVID-19. Overall totals since the beginning of the pandemic 144,013 confirmed cases. Of that number, 6,951 people in Illinois have died from COVID-19. The recovery rate in Illinois remains at 94%. The seven day rate of infection for the time period of June 24th to June 30th, the percentage of the number of tests conducted in that seven day period that return positive for COVID-19 remains at 2.6%. This number is vital as it indicates how potent cases are within the state and would be a strong indicator if the state of Illinois were to begin to see a spike in cases.
