The latest COVID-19 numbers for Macomb find one new case of COVID-19 in the county which brings the current total of active cases to 15. Overall, since the beginning of the pandemic in Mid-March, McDonough County has seen 159 individual cases of COVID-19. 128 people are listed in the recovered category while 16 people in McDonough County have died from COVID-19. Schuyler County remains at 19 individual cases since the start of the pandemic and one case that is currently active and being monitored by the Health Department.
As for the latest statewide COVID-19 numbers, on Wednesday, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced 2,295 new individual cases of COVID-19. That’s the highest statewide total the state has seen since early June. With that announcement came the announcement that 25 more people in Illinois had died from COVID-19. That brings the totals since the start of the pandemic to 211,889 individual cases of COVID-19. Of that number, 7,806 people have died from COVID-19. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from August 12 – August 18 is 4.4%. As of last night, 1,519 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 334 patients were in the ICU and 144 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
