Macomb Police Chief Jerel Jones Releases Statement

MACOMB, IL – Macomb Police Chief Jerel Jones released a statement late Thursday morning, expressing his sadness over the recent loss of several Illinois law enforcement personnel including Sergeant Rittmanic of the Bradley PD, Deputy Riley of the Wayne County PD, and DCFS Investigator Silas, all of whom were tragically killed in the line of duty.

Chief Jones then goes on to assure the members of the community that despite the dark state of the world,  the men and women of law enforcement work tirelessly to help ensure the “safe travel, day-to-day operations of the public, and to assure our residents and visitors sleep peacefully at night, knowing that your community is protected.”

In closing, he petitions the community to remember that the health, safety, and well-being of the men and women of law enforcement is a priority, and despite their human nature, they strive to deliver professional police services dedicated towards keeping everyone safe, serving with the utmost dignity and respect.
