Illinois State Police Make Arrest

On Monday, April 12th, at approximately 8:59 a.m., an Illinois State Police  Trooper stopped a Commercial Motor Vehicle for a Motor Carrier Safety inspection on U.S. 30 eastbound at 3rd Avenue, in Whiteside County. During the inspection, the Trooper learned the driver, Jamie S. Dowse, a 32-year old male of Sterling, IL, was previously issued a citation for Operating a CMV without a valid Commercial Driver’s License and placed out of service on Friday, April 2nd, in Whiteside County. Dowse was still driving a CMV without obtaining the proper CDL class while he was declared OOS. Dowse was arrested and charged with No Valid CDL When Required, Operating an Out of Service Vehicle, Overweight on Registration, Out of Compliance-Failure to Pay UCR Fee/No UCR Registration, Obstructed Front Windshield, and Windshield in Defective Condition-Impairing Driver’s View. Dowse was released on a recognizance bond and issued a future court date.

Also on Monday, April 12th, at approximately 3:51 p.m., an Illinois State Police Trooper stopped the driver of a motor vehicle for not wearing her seatbelt and using an electronic communication device (texting) while driving on Lynn Boulevard westbound-IL40, in Whiteside County. The driver, Katelyn G. Brearton, an 18-year old female of Chadwick, IL, was arrested and charged with Driving While License Suspended and Failure to Wear a Seatbelt (Driver). She was issued a Written Warning for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Using an Electronic Communication Device. Brearton was released on a recognizance bond and issued a future court date.
