Fatal Crash Victims Identified in Whiteside County

On Friday April 9th, at 9:14am Whiteside County Deputies along with Fulton Police Department responded to a single vehicle fatality traffic crash on U.S. RT 136 just west of Sand road.  A black SUV traveling eastbound left the roadway, traveling through the southbound ditch. The vehicle rolled and both occupants were ejected from the vehicle.   Both the driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the Scene by Whiteside County Coroner.  Deputies were assisted by Fulton and Albany Police Illinois State Police, Fulton Fire and Ambulance.

Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office has released the names from Fatal Crash Friday on Us Rt. 136, in rural Fulton. The driver of the vehicle, 71 year old Stephen E. Higdon and his wife, 70 year old Catherine S. Higdon, was in the front passenger seat. The Higden’s lived in Morrison Illinois. The Higdon’s previously resided in Fairfield Iowa, prior to moving to Morrison. Mr. Higdon was a Minister in Fairfield Iowa for many years.  The traffic crash remains under investigation by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office
