Dixon Police Department Shooting Investigation One Year Later

The Dixon Police Department has spent one year and many hours investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the 1300 block of West Fourth Street, where two victims were struck by gunfire, on Wednesday, March 18th of 2020.  Investigators have identified several individuals involved in the shooting incident.

Anthony J. Wilbourn, age 18, of Rockford, Illinois was charged on Tueasday, March 30th, 2021. Wilbourn was charged with ATTEMPTED MURDER (6 Counts), being a Class X Felony each, AGGRAVATED BATTERY (2 Counts), being a Class X Felony each, and AGGRAVATED DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM, being a Class 1 Felony. Wilbourn is currently incarcerated in the Winnebago County Jail on unrelated charges of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.

A review of events that took place on Wednesday, March 18th, 2020. At approximately 3:44 a.m., Dixon Police Officers responded to the 1300 block of West Fourth Street after a report of shots being fired in the area. Two victims inside of a residence at 1309 West Fourth Street were struck by the gunfire.  The victims were a 28-year old female and a 32-year old male. Both were transported to KSB Hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Upon further investigation, it was learned that the residence of the female victim had been struck with multiple rounds of gunfire.
All charges are merely an allegation and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
