Crews Respond to Early Morning Fire in Sterling

The City of Sterling announced today, the Sterling Fire Department, Rock Falls Fire Department with CGH EMS responded around 4:45 am for a reported structure fire at 216 Locust St. Lisa’s Brick House in Sterling.

Upon arrival, first in crews found heavy smoke conditions in the bar area and quickly determined the fire to be located in the basement. Fire attack was began and the fire quickly was extinguished. Fire damaged a portion of the basement, while smoke caused heavy damage throughout the entire structure. Smoke also spread to the nearby establishment, Kelly’s Tap and firefighters found limited amount of damage inside that bar.

The fire started in the basement and is being investigated by Sterling Fire, as well as the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Crews remained on scene for approximately 3 hours.
