COVID Cases in The Area Remain Steady

Saturday, Sunday and Monday totals from The Whiteside County Health Department, 44 new cases and 2 recoveries of COVID-19. From Monday and Tuesday, 26 new cases and 1 recovery.

According to The Illinois Department of Public Health, Whiteside has a rolling 7 day average at 5% positivity.

The Lee County Health Department is reporting 69 new cases were reported over the past week.  56 residents have been lifted off of isolation. 5 residents are currently hospitalized.

On September 3, 2021, the Governor signed Executive Order 21-22 which requires all individuals over the age of 2 and who can medically tolerate a face covering to wear a face covering when in
indoor public places. The Executive Order also requires health care workers, school personnel, higher education personnel and students, and employees and contractors of state-owned or operated congregate facilities to be fully vaccinated.

There were around 100 fewer COVID-19 positives statewide last week compared to the week before. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 25,956 positive cases last week. The case positivity rate is also down to 4.1 percent last week from 4.5 percent the week before. ICU bed occupancy was also down from 549 the prior week to 502 last week.
