The Strokes have earned their fifth top-10 debut on the Billboard 200, thanks to the band’s latest effort, The New Abnormal.
The sixth full-length studio effort from Julian Casablancas and company enters the Billboard 200 ranking at number eight with a total of 35,000 equivalent album units, 23,000 of which were traditional album sales.
With The New Abnormal, every one of The Strokes’ albums has landed in the top 10 on the Billboard 200, with the exception of the group’s 2001 debut album, Is This It. The band’s peak on the chart is number four, which they achieved with 2003’s Room on Fire, 2006’s First Impressions of Earthand 2011’s Angles.
The New Abnormal is the first new Strokes album since 2013’s Comedown Machine. It includes the single “Bad Decisions.”
