Pearl Jam’s Matt Cameron & other drummers unite for new project, Plan D

A number of rock drummers are uniting for Plan D, a new, experimental project from producer Toshi Kasai.

Among those taking part include Pearl Jam and Soundgarden‘s Matt Cameron, one-time Nirvana member and current Melvins drummer Dale Crover, Blondie‘s Clem Burke, and Joe Plummer of Cold War Kids.

In Plan D, Kasai, who’s worked with Tool and Foo Fighters, “translates” drum beats played by those artists into a “medley of music via the use of triggered analog synths.”

“Toshi Kasai understands us drummers,” says Cameron. “This amazing collection of drum vignettes is a perfect example of how Toshi hears the music in our rhythmic patterns…Plan D stands on its own as a completely new musical entity and I’m super proud to be a part of it.”

The debut Plan D album, SW, is out now on vinyl. Three more records, NE, SE and NW, will be released throughout the year.

Here’s the SW track list:

“Golden Voyage”
“Stormy Sea”
“Distance and Duration”
“Landing, the Search Begins”
“Stumbling Through The Jungle”
“The Mystery of the Limestone Cave”
