Rapper Machine Gun Kelly made the heartbreaking announcement on Sunday that his father had died.
MGK — born Richard Colson Baker — said his father’s passing coincided with previous plans to celebrate the first anniversary of his fourth studio album, Hotel Diablo.
Posting a series of snaps related to the album, MGK opened, “i had plans for the one year anniversary of Hotel Diablo today…that album was everything i wanted to say and i know it’s close to my fans…?”
“But my father took his last breath this morning,” the 30-year-old announced. “I’ve never felt a pain this deep in my life.”‘
The “Bad Things” artist didn’t go into detail regarding his father’s sudden passing nor the cause of death.
“I’m setting my phone down. love you,” MGK concluded. “Thank you guys for everything.”
Friends and fans were quick to offer their sincere condolences to the grieving artist.
Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker reached out with a heartfelt “Send all the the love in the world to you right now brother” while his “At My Best” collaborator Hailee Steinfeld expressed “sending you all the love in the world.”
Later, on his Instagram Stories, the Bird Box star opened up about seeing his father for the final time, saying he left the hospital at 4:44 where the two sang Neil Young‘s “Old Man” together.
“It was 4:44 when i left the hospital the last time i saw my dad,” he said. “This was the last song we sang together.”
