Listen to Billie Joe Armstrong sing Italian in second cover of the week

Billie Joe Armstrong already released his “No Fun Mondays” cover for this week on its namesake day, but he’s now shared a bonus recording to help us get to the weekend.

The latest cover from the Green Day frontman is a rendition of the song “Amico,” originally by Italian singer Don Backy. You can listen to Armstrong’s version of the track, which he sings in its native language, streaming now on YouTube.

“Please excuse my Italian,” Armstrong says of the performance.

Armstrong launched the “No Fun Mondays” series in March. Each Monday, he’s been releasing a new cover, which he plans to continue doing “until we’re let back out into the world.”

Previous covers include “I Think We’re Alone Now” by Tommy James & the Shondells, “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around a Memory” by Johnny Thunders, “Manic Monday” by The Bangles with Susanna Hoffs, “Corpus Christi” by The Avengers, the Adam Schlesinger-penned song “That Thing You Do!”, and “War Stories,” by The Starjets.
